My mission is to be the best talent and career development agency in the tech industry.
Seeking international experience, I relocated to Singapore to oversee Yahoo's recruiting operations. This period was a deep dive into understanding diverse business cultures across APAC including Taiwan, India, and Singapore, enriching my experience in working with globally varied leadership styles.
Upon leaving Yahoo, I returned to the U.S. and joined Helix, a pioneering consumer genomics startup that raised $320mm and played a pivotal role in supplying Covid testing during the pandemic. As the first Senior HR hire, I laid the groundwork for the People Ops department, supporting the company's expansion from 18 to 200 employees in 18 months, and fostering enduring employee relationships along the way. In 2018, I started Better Talent Studio, a recruiting consulting firm that partners with executives to design programs and strategies that help their companies scale and raise the performance level of their employees.
My career journey, spanning from sandwiches to startups, is marked by an unwavering quest for knowledge. Inspired by thought leaders such as Daniel Kahneman, Phil Jackson, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Ray Dalio, Charlie Munger, and Warren Buffett, I continue my mission of guiding the next generation of industry leaders toward rewarding and impactful careers.
With more than 20 years of experience in talent management, I have a proven track record in recruiting and leading high-performing teams at companies like Yahoo, Helix, Genome Medical, and Invitae. In my current role at DLC, I provide a comprehensive range of services, including brand and identity development, career planning and coaching, personality assessments, interview preparation, as well as analysis and negotiation of job offers. I provide a tailored approach to guiding leaders through every stage of their career journey.
Raised in Northern California's South Bay, my small-town upbringing fostered a keen intuition for blending relationship-building, having fun, making money, and a strong work ethic. After achieving success in the restaurant industry in my 20's, including the launch of three new concepts and the recruitment of over 500 people, I leveraged my operations and HR background in the tech industry as a technical recruiter at Yahoo in 2012. I played a pivotal role in the company's transition from a media business to a technology innovator. Under the mentorship of industry veterans like Sandy Gould, we revived an iconic brand, hiring over 7,000 people globally in three years.
